- If you want to do it really fast, here is how to make a super fast spin. Start the same way as you do with the regular spin, except that the pencil’s between your middle finger and ring finger (The thumb is used to stabilize the end of the pencil). Push forward and backwards at the same time. Move your thumb; you should get a very cool spin with your pencil.
- Fight the urge to move your hand to make the pencil go faster. If you don't move it, you will be better off in the long run.
Biofuels is actually worsening global warming, driving up food prices, and ruining our environment. In reality biofuel made from sugar cane is the only type of fuel that is efficient enough to cut emission and help our environment. Corn is one of the most inefficient types of plants to make biofuel from, and also the most expensive. According to Popular Science, we currently have 13 million diesel engines, which can run on biofuel made from planets like corn, soybeans, and sugarcane
The Amazon rain forests, the jewel of our planet, are being cut down to plant soybeans to supply the ethanol market. Only a fraction of the once magnificent rain forest remains. Rain forests is not only a major supplier of our oxygen it also has the ability to store the carbon, the element that is the cause of global warming. Large amounts of forests are burned during deforestation and all of those carbon are being released into the air. This in turn increase our greenhouse gases and increase global warming. Global warming is real, not a myth created by scientists, we have to do everything we can to stop it. According to Time, "750,000 acres of Brazilian rain forest were lost in the last six months of 2007, (equal to the area of Rhode Island).
According to Time magazine, the amount of corn it takes to make the ethanol used to fill a SUV could feed a person for 365 days. There are people going to bed every night starving in many developing countries like Africa. We should no be making fuel to power our cars when those food can save a person from starving or dying. So in other words we car more about our cars than we do the people.
Corn made ethanol is affecting our entire economy, and most of them are bad. Many soybean planters have switched to corn because the demand for corn has risen more profits can be earned from selling corn. The demand for soybeans have grown due to the fact that so many farmers switched to corn. Farmers in Brazil have displaced pastures for ranch animals and cleared away amazon rain forest land to meet the global demand for soybeans.
Ethanol is not what everyone thinks it to be. It cannot be our solution to independence from foreign fuel because even if we converted all of the land in the U.S. to be farm land we would only satisfy about 20% of all our fuel needs. Politicians and big business are pushing for ethanol because for politicians it seems like they are doing something to help save global warming and big businesses can make huge amounts of money at the same time. In reality ethanol from corn is not efficient enough, unlike sugarcane ethanol, to actually cut more emission that it takes to make the fuel. It corrodes pipelines so its hard to transport. Yet, according to Time magazine, the biofuel market will reach around 100 billion in 2010. Out of 10,000 things in an actual grocery store about 2,500 will be either made with corn or processed or have something to do with corn. Are you ready to pay more for daily products during the recession?
I've always thought long and hard about karma. Some parts doesn't add up. One dilbert comic brings up a very good point. Dogbert says in the strip " karma is great, it allows me to be mean to you and makes you think u deserve it." The whole bad things happen to bad people thing is messed up. Its like a vicious cycle that consumes victims as the cycle is carried out. For example with karma bad things will happen to bad people, unless the event is caused my nature then the bad thing that is happening to the bad person will be caused by another person. If say the person who did the bad thing to the bad person then technically the good person now has some negative karma as well. So this is what i mean by dragging innocents into the vicious cycle.
If u think about it Dogbert has a point. If say bad things happen to you, like a storm flooding your house, does it mean you have done something bad enough to deserve that? No one deserves that kind of treatment, unless your really an asshole and have done some really bad things in the past. So an awesome excuse would be " yeah i done [your choice of bad thing that you did to someone else] because its my duty to make sure karma catches up with them" Try it the next time you do something bad...see what happens.
In my opinion if something bad is gonna happen then its gonna happen. If you live in say New Orleans then you know that place is gonna have a hurricane that's gonna do some damage,my advice would be to not live in a place where bad things can happen. The karma was created to scare the good behavior into you and to make us all live in harmony, because say if you did something bad to me you can bet i will kick your ass some day and if i have to do that then i will waste my time and you have a sore buttocks for the rest of the week. :D
Thy soul shall find itself alone
'Mid dark thoughts of the grey tomb-stone --
Not one, of all the crowd, to pry
Into thine hour of secrecy:
Be silent in that solitude
Which is not loneliness -- for then
The spirits of the dead who stood
In life before thee are again
In death around thee -- and their will
Shall then overshadow thee: be still.
For the night -- tho' clear -- shall frown --
And the stars shall look not down,
From their high thrones in the Heaven,
With light like Hope to mortals given --
But their red orbs, without beam,
To thy weariness shall seem
As a burning and a fever
Which would cling to thee for ever :
Now are thoughts thou shalt not banish --
Now are visions ne'er to vanish --
From thy spirit shall they pass
No more -- like dew-drop from the grass:
The breeze -- the breath of God -- is still --
And the mist upon the hill
Shadowy -- shadowy -- yet unbroken,
Is a symbol and a token --
How it hangs upon the trees,
A mystery of mysteries! --
I read some where that Muhammad is the most common name in the entire world. Now I am an atheist and don't believe in god so please tell me if i have any facts wrong or spelled anything wrong. But isn't Allah like the equivalent of the Christan Jesus? So how come Jesus is such an uncommon name in the US or UK or anywhere in the world except Spanish speaking countries?
I read the recent dilbert comic strip and in it was a guy whose name was Jesus, pronounced Hay Sos. This will always be a mystery to me. If you have the answer to my question please post it in the comment section so i can know the answer.
The person who thought up the idea of bottled water was either a marketing genius or a total dumbass. Seriously, if u read any business book the first thing they teach you is the importance of marketing. A good marketer can probably sell snow in Alaska. Now getting back to bottled water, seriously are you that thirsty to the point you would pay normal water in a bottle?
Whats the difference between bottled water and the water u can filter at home. IT takes the same, it looks the same, hell its probably the exact same thing except for the fact that oh wow ur paying way too much for the bottled one then the one u get at home.
Another factor people should consider is this: plastic costs money as well as the water. So what your really paying for is the bottle that u should really use one time because it can leach toxic materials into ur water if u use the same bottle over and over again.
Bottle water can be easy to carry around and good for when u have a trip or something but why not just spend some money buying one of those reusable water bottles? In reality what we really need is like a water bottle that can filter your water anytime anywhere. That way u can drink confidently if ur water came from a run down mcdonald bathroom, not trying to insult mcdonald their food is okay if it didnt have so much fat in it!
This is like the most simple, yet funnest, is that even a word, game ever! Think about it this way how long have Call of Duty or Halo been around? How long as tetris survived? You decide....
Below is a good browser based version of the game!
Have you seen the history channel on this topic? I think i did. There was one specifically on this year. According to the show many predictions have been made about this year as the year in which the world as we know it will end. The Mayan calender ends on this year. The Mayan culture was based on time, they observed time and found patterns. They used time and correlated the knowledge with observing the sky to predict rain and when certain constellations will appear in the sky. A lot of other people have also made this prediction. Like Merlin, which is actually Myrddin or something, he predicted that the world will end on 2012. The so called "Lady in the Cave" who was a nun that lived a hermit life in cave studying the bible.
Anyway the point is that according to those people the world is gonna end. Now you might think "why the hell would I care if some old crazy spook told me the world's gonna end?" Or " the damn Mayans were crazy, thats why they disappeared and plus they sacrificed people to their so called gods." Well its actually because they were right about some things. The two seers i mentioned before actually predicted 9/11 and described our modern culture. Those were supposed to be the beginning signs of the apocalypse.
Two major texts come into play. The I Ching, a Chinese text used to make predictions on ones future, and believe or not our Bible. The old testaments written in Hebrew actually predicted an entire line of famous rabbis, assassination of Rabin, 9/11, osama bin laden as the king of terror, and many other things. It also predicted that a comet was going to strike Earth and wipe us out. So far scientists are only able to predicts the path of asteroids but not comets because comets have almost random orbits and if one was coming towards us we would have at most a couple of years if not months or weeks of warning. As a last hopeful thought
the bible code also spelled out comet, 2012, i will tear apart. So someone might actually come to our rescue, but i highly doubt it....I think that if the comet is going to be torn apart then its gonna be torn not by a person but by our planet. According to Carl Sagen a comet struck us before about a century ago in, I think but too sure, siberia and caused almost a mini nuclear winter. But luckily it was during the fall/winter time and the comet wasn't too big and was melted when it came into our atmosphere. But a small one had the yield of around 1 megaton of energy.... if you want to read more about it its the Heaven and Hell chapter in the book Cosmos by Carl Sagen.
Just so you know I am as of today about 14 1/2 years old....so why the hell should i be worry about this stuff? Well actually I don't. But I am bored and I felt like writing a blog and earning some money. Plus whats a boy with an IQ of 126 to do when he doesn't have much homework? :D
